Private Robert McBride

 

The background of this man is not known at present.

Robert McBride enlisted at Glasgow on 25 April 1917. He was described as being 5' 7ΒΌ" tall, with a pale complexion, dark brown hair and grey eyes, and with a scar on his left elbow and a tombstone tattooed on his right forearm and the back of his left hand. He stated that he was 28 years old, was born in Kilsyth, Stirling, and worked as a miner.

Between 23 and 26 June 1917 he was posted to the North Irish Horse (No.2524). He was reported to have deserted from the regiment's reserve base at Antrim on 7 August 1917. It is not known if he was subsequentially apprehended.
