Private Robert McBride

 

The background of this man is not known at present.

Robert McBride enlisted at Glasgow on 25 April 1917. He was described as being 5' 7¼" tall, with a pale complexion, dark brown hair and grey eyes, and with a scar on his left elbow and a tombstone tattooed on his right forearm and the back of his left hand. He stated that he was 28 years old, was born in Kilsyth, Stirling, and worked as a miner.

Between 23 and 26 June 1917 he was posted to the North Irish Horse (No.2524). He was reported to have deserted from the regiment's reserve base at Antrim on 7 August 1917. It is not known if he was subsequentially apprehended.
